HIGHLIGHTED ACHIEVEMENTS
LEVEL DESIGN
Key contributions:
-
Fully redesigned progression systems multiple times with a strong focus on early-game onboarding and player retention. Took ownership of optimizing core systems including level progression, feature and content unlocks, reward structures, motivation pacing, and in-game economy to enhance player engagement and overall game performance.
-
Continuously design, execute, and analyze multiple A/B tests to drive data-informed design and feature decisions, translating insights into measurable improvements in user experience and engagement.
-
Led collaboration with game designers to develop new in-game elements, overseeing their production from initial concept to full implementation from a level design perspective. Acted as the primary level design representative in discussions, defined functionality constraints to ensure consistency with the overall game, and validated feasibility through prototyping and conducting team playtests.
-
Owned end-to-end release processes for all level content, collaborating closely with developers to ensure smooth deployment. Managed the entire design-side workflow independently for several months, overseeing all aspects of level releases.
-
Served as the primary point of contact for all level design–related community posts, collaborating closely with the marketing team to create engaging content that increased forum engagement and strengthened player interaction, while also providing valuable player feedback to inform overall game improvements.
-
Worked in close partnership with developers to identify, prioritize, and resolve bugs while continuously improving workflows and core systems. Actively contributed to optimizing technical pipelines, streamlining processes, and implementing design-driven enhancements that elevated overall system efficiency and team productivity.
BUILDING A BRAND NEW GAME
Block Jam 3D was developed with a focus on speed, adaptability and data-driven decision making, which is a core part of Voodoo's company culture. We kept a high iteration pace with weekly releases and continuous updates. The team followed an agile approach with rapid prototyping and short deployment cycles, allowing us to test ideas quickly, gather feedback and improve the experience in real time.
When I joined, the game was still in an early stage of development. Level design guidelines were very rough and the overall vision for the game was still forming. As a small senior team we took ownership of building and polishing the game to meet industry standards, by combining creative ideas with market research to both innovate and further polish what already works. This was especially important in creating a solid level design foundation with clear guidelines, to ensure a cohesive experience that would remain the game’s standard. This resulted in the game shifting from weekly negative trends to a stable market-sustainable title.
Working at Voodoo was a complete contrast to the stable and focused structure of my previous role in the industry. My time here further strengthened and refined my skills as a senior level designer thanks to the constant changes and challenges in this fast-paced and dynamic environment. Unlike my previous role on Candy Crush Saga, where the goal was to maintain the millions of players the game already had, at Block Jam 3D the goal was to get those millions of players to install the game for the first time. A goal I can proudly say we achieved, which remains my proudest accomplishment from working on the game.
